Plasdone S-630 copovidone is a synthetic, 60:40, linear, random copolymer of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone and vinyl acetate. The addition of vinyl acetate to the vinylpyrrolidone polymer chain reduces hydrophilicity and glass transition temperature (Tg) of the polymer relative to polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) homopolymers. As a result, Plasdone S-630 copolymer is an excellent adhesive material and a tougher, more flexible film former than PVP homopolymer.
